For my baby shower, I was gifted a bunch of amazing pieces of clothing for the little man. But, probably because tiny things are so much cuter than the rest, I quickly ran out of clothing that fit him and was on my own. I was shocked to find that modern and functional basics (especially for boys) were nowhere to be found in my city. So, after a little digging online, I stumbled on Montreal based online boutique When We Wear Young and hit the jackpot!
Launched in 2017 after the owners found it difficult to find good quality basics for their own daughter, they did the all the work for us. Working with small independents from all over Canada and the world, they have curated an edited collection of modern clothing for ages 0-4 that are simply designed, functional and without emphasis on gender stereotypes. Plus, every brand has been tried and tested by their own daughter, so you can be assured that the pieces last through many washes and future little ones (thank god, because our man is growing like a weed!)
Over the past several weeks, you may have already caught Finn sporting some new styles and, boy, have they been on repeat. From this Go Gently Onesie Romper for those hot fall days (currently on sale) to this standout Mad About Mini watercolour long sleeve pajamas featuring press studs at the shoulder and crotch for easy wear changes, everyone has been commenting how adorable the styles are! But, what really took the cake in our household was this cozy sweatshirt from Little HEDONIST made from the softest organic cotton and these KID’S STUFF Grow Harem Pants. The sleeves on the sweater are raw edge, so you can easily adjust the length to fit your little one just right and the pants are actually designed to be worn for a while and grow with your babe. Genius, right?
So, it’s safe to say I have officially bookmarked When We Wear Young on my browser and will be coming back for more as Finn grows. I love the idea of investing in a handful of great quality, gender neutral, and basic designs that can easily be mixed and matched for Finn and whatever babe comes next!
