Okay, this post is so long overdue. I tried to get it done dozens of times, but I hate starting something I know I don’t have time to finish. For this post in particular, I really wanted to not just list, but explain why we have certain things always on hand for both new mamas and mamas-to-be. So, here we are, two months later! Originally, I decided to do this post because I get a ton of questions about my diaper bag in general – people think it is just my purse! But, it is actually a diaper bag from Little Unicorn ( I also have a Black one) but I also have noticed I keep some unique things on us that we swear by.  So, let’s get to the goods! Here are the items you might not expect to find in our diaper bag at any given time…

What’s in My Diaper Bag

Aden and Anais Swaddles – Breathable, versatile and super soft we always have a swaddle packed away.  From keeping him warm to wiping his face we use these things for everything!  Another plus? We find that he is calmer in the car seat and stroller when he can play with one (our guy is a wiggle monster).  We actually have 2x of this set and it is the perfect amount because there is always some in our laundry. I also love this neutral set too!

Sophie the Giraffe – I still don’t understand why babies are so obsessed with this toy, but our Finn is just as crazy for it. The sound, the texture, and shape are perfect for little ones (just a little steep when it comes to price) Thankfully, this set was generously gifted to us for our baby shower.  This set was perfect because we found when he was younger he opted for the smaller version and now loves both!

Badger Sunscreen – We try to keep Finn out of the sun as much as possible, but there are those days that he needs some extra protection.  We use Badger Baby Sunscreen SPF 30+.  It is natural, non-nano Zinc Oxide Cream Sunscreen for his delicate skin. We love that it is safe, simple, natural and effective as possible.

Boogie Wipes – We actually just started really using these last month, but these gentle saline wipes for stuffy noses are everything! I don’t know about you, but I can’t stand when Finn has boogers in his nose and he HATES me trying to grab them (I know, TMI) But, these boogie wipes get the job done with a lot less fussing from the little guy.

Regular and Swim Diapers– Diapers are obvious, but we also keep a few swim diapers stashed away for all those pool parties we were hitting up this summer.  Now that it is fall, I don’t think I will keep them in anymore

Gathre Changing Mat– The diaper bag actually came with a mat, but, I love how slim the gathre mat is! I love how it folds so small to save some much-needed space ( I have even tossed it in my purse from time to time)  They come in a variety of colours and even scalloped (so cute) and I just love this brand.

Gathre Play Mat- No surprise since I love this brand but I also bring along a larger playmat so Finn can roll around wherever we go. Again, it is super slim and packs nicely plus I love to neutral striped design.  They are fool-proof and wipe off with ease so it is perfect for my messy baby.

OVer Company Breastfeeding Cover– This mama is still breastfeeding so this cover is an essential part of our day. I actually bought an extra one a month in, because I like to wash them regularly but sometimes I am backed up with Laundry.  They are super stretchy and soft and do double duty and cover your car seat. You can snag them locally at Three Lambs Baby Boutique too!

Honest Company Organic Healing Balm – We have been super lucky and haven’t had any really bad diaper rashes but it also could be because as soon as we see any sign of redness we slather on some of this balm. It is a little messy to apply but well worth it.  Literally by next diaper change, Finn is irritation free. For those of you who have a Costco membership, I have also spotted it there for a great price.

Doddle & Co. Pop Pacifier– Finn just started using a soother last week and it has left us praising the Lord. Man, aren’t they the best?! We aren’t excited about weening him off of it later on but hey, it’s day by day with a 6-month-old.  This pacifier literally pops so the part that they suck on never hits the ground. Genius! Besides using it properly, Finn loves holding it and sucking on any part of it because of its texture.

Polarized Baby Sunglasses – Besides being fricken’ adorable, these polarized sunnies protect Finn’s eyes and he doesn’t mind wearing them! We were told to have him wear them when he is young so he gets used to it and it seems to work.  They stay on his head by themselves but come with a rubber strap that keeps them in place.

Tory Burch Makeup Bag Filled with my essentials – Since I end of using this as a purse (I just toss in my keys, sunglasses, and wallet) I kept a small tote filled with some things I can’t live without while on the go with Finn.  From Benefit’sNew Boi-ing Concealer, Fairhaven Summer Blend for Bugs, Tide to Go Stick (LIFESAVER) SkinCeuticals Tinted Matte Sunscreen for my face and Neutrogena Sunscreen for the rest of my body are a few of the things I have on hand.

Breast Milk Pump/Saver – I have both the Milkies milk saver and NatureBond Silicone Breastfeeding Manual Breast Pump Milk Saver and I love them both for different reasons.  When breastfeeding, there is sometimes some overflow from the unused breast and we all know breast milk it liquid gold! I love the no fuss of the Milkies but also like getting a more milk from the NatureBond.  Because they always need to be sterilized, I switch it up as they need to be cleaned.
