It has been so hard balancing both staying warm and fashionable at the office lately. This weather can make dressing for work a challenge; you want to look professional, but not freeze to death at the same time. Heels look lovely, but I’m not losing a toe to frostbite. Every day, all I want to do is show up to work in sweatpants!   But since that isn’t my reality, I have a few tips for dressing for the office in the winter to help you look chic and cozy during office hours.

All about those Layers

It’s freezing outside but the heat in the office is cranked the best way to combat the difference in temperatures is layers. My general rule of thumb is to layer with different textures for example, one of the best parts about layering is that you can still wear that delicate silk blouse you bought last summer. By layering it this winter a chunky knit cardigan you still look like your dressing for the appropriate season.

Opt for skirts & dresses with boots

Even though you might gravitate towards pants this winter try mixing it up with thick dresses and skirts with tights paired with boots or booties.  In the winter weather, your pant cuffs end up dragging in the snow or you wrinkle them by tucking them into your boots and with tights, it is the perfect fit! My go-to tights are Secret which comes in different styles like sheer or opaque and a variety of colours.

Don’t resort to black

I am always tempted to wear darker colours in the winter and even though most likely your winter staples are black but mixing in grey, cream and white is a great way to freshen up your look.  Sporting the lighter side of neutrals is an easy way to make a statement this winter by styling a monochromatic look like the one I am wearing above. But be sure to mix in those textures for some flawless style.

This is a lovely look, the grey looks fantastic. I so hate the temperatures this winter which make dressing so difficult, pj’s and sweats look so much more comfy then what we should be wearing

I have been loving the booties this year! It’s crazy how quickly the trends can change, up until the last few years it was all about the tall ones and now they’re all ankle.
