If you have ever had a chance to look at my closet I always have it arranged by colour but the biggest section in my closet would have to be the striped tops! While shopping, I am always drawn to stripes, black or navy mostly because of their classic and iconic look.
Warning! Horizontal stripes do give the illusion that you are wider, so be aware of how and what you are pairing your stripes with!
Tricks to wearing horizontal stripes
Opt for thinner stripes The narrower the stripe, the harder it is for your eye to focus on just one spot, so you’re likely to look up and down and not side to side
The Darker the stripes the better– Shades of blacks, navys and dark greys combat the horizontal stripes to make you look thinner.
Layer with solids– Breaking up the horizontal lines with a blazer or sweater stops your eye from moving very far from right to left.
Expose some skin- wearing a v-neck or a crop top with stripes allows the eye to see where the stripes end and your body begins.
Wear them on the smallest parts of your body– Have a petite top or bottom? Sport the stripes where you are the tiniest to balance out your body.
