With our lives so busy, its rare for my dad and I to be able to spend time together. And June is no exception! With weddings, vacations and both our birthdays it literally never ends. So, for Father’s Day this year, I was so happy to take the time and treat my dad to a special night just for him!
Last week, to celebration of Father’s Day, my dad and I headed to The Keg for their inaugural The Keg and Corby Spirit’s and Wine Whiskey Tasting. The Tasting was hosted by the knowledgeable and charismatic Master Blender at Hiram Walker & Sons Distillery, Don Livermore. A renowned expert and a PhD in Brewing and Distilling it was no surprise my Dad and I learnt so many interesting things about the who’s, what’s and hows of whiskey. Most of which happened right here in Windsor! During our whiskey 101, he detailed each of the whiskies we sampled throughout our meal like Lott No. 40, J.P. Wiser’s Last Barrels, J.P. Wiser’s 18 Year Old and Gooderham and Worts. My personal fave? The limited edition, J.P. Wiser’s Last Barrels. With only a few thousand bottles ever created, it was so special to be able to taste it, plus my dad was super pumped he got a bottle for his very own collection, signed by the Master Blender himself!
