As this bump gets larger, I am literally running out of options. Specifically, when it comes to outerwear! It got me thinking about maternity clothes in general and I thought I would share with you my experience!
So far, it’s been super interesting balancing staying stylish without having to buy a whole new wardrobe. To be honest, I have had a hard time spending money on maternity clothes knowing that it’s just for a short period, plus I hated most of the options available! But, eventually I had to give so I don’t look like a complete slob-kabob. What really saved me my second and third trimester were stretchy knit dresses. I would dig for more modest options at Sirens or Urban Planet. But, wearing knit dresses daily wasn’t realistic so I thought I would share with you what I actually bought for this pregnancy!
Where I Shopped
This one was a no brainer. There was no way I was getting this bump into some non maternity pants. I ended up snagging most of my pants at places like Target or Old Navy for their inexpensive options and decent fit.
- Black Skinny Jeans
- Grey Skinny Jeans
- Dark Indigo Skinny Jeans
- Destroyed Jeans
- Black Dress Pants
- Workout Pants
- Black Leggings
- Vegan Leather Leggings in Larger size (only could wear for 1st and second trimester)
This wasn’t as bad as I thought. I was able to wear a lot of my non-maternity sweaters and even some over-sized blouse I already had. But when it came to short and long sleeve tees, none I owned seemed long enough to cover the bump. To all non-maternity tops a belly band was a requirement but I did end up buying some maternity staples to get me through my last trimester.
- White Blouse
- Polka Dot Blouse (non-maternity but super roomy)
- White Tee Shirt
- 3 Henleys in size up (non-maternity black, white and pink)
- Grey Long sleeve Top
- Nike Tank in size up (non-maternity)
- Long sleeve Stripped Tee
- Black Structured Vest (non-maternity but left open)
If I am not wearing a dress, I am most definitely wearing one of these babies. They add coverage and comfort and made my non-maternity options last a bit longer. Best investment by far!
