The month of August was more than a little crazy. Apart from being in the middle of our kitchen renovation, it’s also year-end at work, filmed not one, but five Back to School Essential videos, went to Ottawa for a friends wedding and spent 2 different days on wine and bike tours, all while prepping for yet another trip to Toronto. Don’t get me wrong, I had a lot of fun doing these things, but doing them on top of my 9-5 job made me feel more than a little stressed. So last Friday, my 3 best girl friends and I packed our bags, and took the 15-minute car ride to Caesars Windsor Hotel & Casino for a much needed staycation.
A “staycation” is technically when you plan activities close to home but sleep in your own beds at night. But staying in a hotel or someplace other than home can be one of the best parts of being on vacation… so, our idea of a great staycation experience was being in our own city but having the luxury of staying somewhere fabulous with no real life interruptions!
Before I go into all the fun let me breakdown some details for those of you who aren’t familiar with Caesars Windsor Hotel & Casino. Winner of the AAA Four Diamond award, Caesars Windsor Hotel & Casino defines modern luxury with timeless elegance. The spectacular accommodations (with killer views of the riverfront or city) to indulge in both comfort and luxury.
In line with our staycation mentality, we didn’t stray too far for dinner and drinks and breakfast either. Caesars has all your culinary needs covered! Our dinners at Neros Steakhouse were inventive, fresh and extremely tasty. Our experience was taken to the next level with some insightful visits from Chef Deron Lepore and Somilier Renee Nantais who guided us through both the both the food and wine menus (I even got to take a peek with them into both the kitchen and the wine cellar-talk about droolworthy) For our meals, I opted for the Lentil Cakes whereas the girls snagged the Halibut and the sirloin and we all split the crab cakes, scallops, pear salad and special shrimp and steak plate by Chef Deon Lepore (see menu here). At the end of our meal, I was shocked to find that most entrees were only $25-40 plus they always have different themes and specials so be sure to check out August Newsletter Here
The next morning, I slept in , ordered breakfast in bed and caught up on some reading with my orange juice in the King Size bed. With the 11 am checkout, I even had time to indulge in a bubble bath because, why not?!
After checkout, I would have been remiss to not hit up Caesars Essentials, a little birdie told me that they had brands like Michael Kors, Fossil and Swarovski to name a few, so really, it wouldn’t have been a day that ends in “y” if I didn’t do some shopping 🙂 I loved all the different options, especially the great bracelets and watches to get your arm party started. I love mixing metals and textures. It instantly takes a look from one-dimensional, to stand out in no time flat!
At the end of our 24 hours we were able to shop, eat, drink and relax –and we didn’t even have to leave the city. I cannot wait until next time too because Caesars Windsor Hotel & Casino will be opening a brand new Four Diamond Windsor Arms Spa and premium night club ARIUS. These two premium amenities will definitely heighten my our next staycation with even more things to see and do!
Thank you Caesars Windsor Hotel & Casino for partnering on this post!
