A few years ago, I thought it would be fun to have a chalkboard wall in my office.  Fast forward 3 years later: I was still yet to use it and it was making my small work space look tiny and dark.  So, last month, I was inspired to tackle some DIY and freshen up my office with a new coat of paint.

To be honest, I didn’t really know where to begin. I knew I wanted something much lighter, brighter and fun but also something that would coordinate with what I already had. So, I used my ColourSmart by BEHR® App to match the white paint with blue undertones on the other three walls. This app became my new DIY assistant. Besides being able to harmonize my paint colours (from the 1000+ available hues), it allowed me to keep a running  wish list of other colours I hope to use in my next project (can’t wait!) and keep a history of paint I have used.   It also let me see how my pick, Stolen Kiss MQ3-34 from MARQUEE® by Behr, would look in real-life rooms so there wouldn’t be any surprises with my new colour commitment.  So, with my new pick saved, I was off to my local Home Depot to grab it and get started on my DIY.

I am not a painter by any means, so the staff at The Home Depot® were a huge help! I had them hook me up with the essentials (Paint KitDrop Cloth and Edger) and let me know what to expect. After going through my options, I was shocked to hear that BEHR MARQUEE Interior Paint & Primer (sold exclusivity at The Home Depot) would cut my painting time in half.  They assured me that even though I was painting over a black chalk board wall with a light pink paint, I would not need to prime and would only need 1 coat!  This one-coat** guarantee meant I could spend more of my Friday night with a wine glass in my hand rather than a paint brush, so for those of you who know me, it was an obvious choice.

In less than an hour last week, my wall was prepped painted and on its way to being dry. I really couldn’t get over how great the coverage was! It’s not that I didn’t believe it would actually work but I was just so impressed with how simple and easy it made my DIY. I loved it so much that I am giving you the chance to win a $100 The Home Depot Gift Card!

This is so timely! We’re slowly personalizing our home by moving away from the “builder’s beige” one room at a time, and my own office/lady cave is the next area I want to tackle. I’m planning on a bold colour, a deep teal, with some industrial elements in the details (light fixture, desk) where I can curl up with a book or tap away on my laptop in peace! Behr’s “The Real Teal” might be the perfect match! Excited the Marquee label is available at Home Depot–between our garden projects and paint projects, it’s become our regular date night spot. 😉

Looks great! I would have thought light pink would be too ‘baby-ish’ but this looks super sophisticated!

Forgot to say that I will be using Sea Ice (P450-1) on the back of my front door to give my entry way a little pop of colour!

The pink you chose is perfect!! I love neutral colours but I tend to lean towards neutral grey/blue tones. Galactic tint really caught my eye!

I just did our bedroom in Iron Gate. First time trying the marquee paint and it was awesome. Only one coat was needed! I’d like to find the same colour and go two shades lighter for the ensuite next.

I would paint with Poetry Reading. It’s this calming grey-blue and I would love it as a hallway paint and bedroom colour.

What an awesome transformation! As a fellow entrepreneur I’m working on creating my very own office/craft room in the new 2 bedroom apartment my boyfriend and I just moved into on June 1st. One of the things he and I agree on is our love of grey as a neutral and since painting that new space is on our to-do list, I would definitely use the Dusk Blue hue! Such a beautiful colour! Crossing my fingers for this gift card since it would really help me get the ball rolling on the new office space I so desperately need.

Thank you for the opportunity and for sharing your experience!

We painted our whole house with Behr 5 years ago and it still looks great! I would probably go with a light grey like Script White for my baby boy’s nursery 🙂
